In this proof-of-concept study during the beginning stages of GlucoTab development, an algorithm for basal-bolus insulin therapy was integrated into the workflow of a hospital ward, and glycemic control and usability were evaluated.
Findings were used to develop the decision support system for hospital in-patients with Type 2 Diabetes.
The workflow-integrated algorithm for basal-bolus therapy was effective in establishing glycemic control and was well accepted by medical staff. Our findings support the implementation of the algorithm in a digital decision support system.
